Board of County Commissioners Approves Transitory Accommodation Ordinance After a lengthy public process, the Kitsap Board of County Commissioners approved an ordinance that includes code changes that allow permitting of temporary dwellings.

This is called the Point In Time Count and will take place in Kitsap County during January 25th and 26th, 2017.
Social service professionals and community volunteers around the county are helping with the effort by sponsoring community meals and events and doing outreach surveying.
The preliminary results show a 14% increase in unsheltered homelessness and 4% overall increase in homelessness over last year’s count.
Collected surveys indicate that during the 24-hour survey period 672 individuals were living homeless in various situations, with 206 living in places not meant for human habitation.
